A little knowledge can make choosing treats less overwhelming.

Food Allergy

Food allergies are immune system reactions to a component of food known as an allergen and have a histamine reaction. Allergens are proteins. These reactions can be severe or even life threatening. Typically, an allergy develops after repeated exposure. Examples are beef, dairy, chicken, and fish.

or

Food Sensitivity?

A pet food sensitivity, or intolerance, is a non-immune system response caused by difficulty digesting or processing a food ingredient. These reactions are rarely life threatening. They can occur anytime, on first or later exposure to the food. Examples include lactose, certain carbohydrates, certain additives or preservatives, soy, and wheat.
